Culture!!

We decided before Fraulein came here, that we would try our best to show her a bit of England and English culture! So today we went to the a nearby Historical City!! A bit out of character for us, we normally visit shopping malls lol. Everyone came, despite objections from Drama Teen, we insisted she came along. The only missing person was Little Miss Sensible as she had gone out with The Boyfriend last night and then stayed over at his house. It was a lovely hot day so we were driving along with the windows slightly open, letting in a lovely breeze. Little Prince objected to this for about half an hour - he whined and whinged about how the colds coming in were stopping him from having a car nap!! By the time he'd given up the fight and was actually trying to get to sleep we were almost there, so he didn't get his nap :-(
We found a car park with a free car parking space pretty easily, which we didn't think we would - it was a lovely day (remember??) and it is a touristy spot!! We walked to the historic church and admired that from the outside, took quite a few photos and then went off to the castle. Much more exciting :-) We climbed towers, walked round the walls, saw dungeons and peered through ancient arrow slits!! We then sat on a bench and watched Little Prince roly poly down the grassy hill for a while - he had a great time :-) Then we left the castle to find something to eat!! Luckily we knew of a great Italian restaurant nearby, and they weren't too busy so we were seated immediately. Little Prince collared the waiter and wanted to know if they had colouring books and crayons - he wasn't very happy that they didn't!! Do we take him to 'chain' restaurants too often (they all seem to provide them)?? He got over his disgust and was quite happy to peruse the kid's menu - deciding a face pizza sounded great. He was confident enough to place his own order with the waiter - he's getting such a big boy now :-) We all had garlic bread followed by either lasagne (me) or bolognaise (everyone else), Little Prince thought my garlic bread was his and protested loudly every time I took a piece!! I suppose its good for my dieting lol. He was a lot happier once his pizza arrived and he didn't have to share it with anyone!!! We also found something new he likes - black olives (the eyes of the pizza). It is true, you DO learn something new everyday :-) After we had all eaten, me and Drama Teen (we were sat either side of Little Prince) were cleaning one hand each - the waiter laughed and said it was obvious he was the only boy in the family, with his needs being catered to by all the women :-) Why do you think I call him Little Prince?!?!
After we had eaten we made our way into the modern part of town, the bit with the shops!! Drama Teen found a lovely old fashioned sweet shop and spent most of her money buying Kendal Mint Cake and the biggest gobstopper I've ever seen!!! We wandered around the town for a while, before making our way back to the car park and home again. The walk back to the car was up a very very steep hill, and it had the desired effect on Little Prince - he made a token protest about the 'colds' and promptly fell fast asleep for the rest of the way home.

Little Miss Sensible arrived home not that long after we did, I didn't bother asking how long of a lie in she had managed to get - I'd only be jealous!!! After a light tea (we were all still full from lunch!) Little Prince wanted LMS to take him to bed. I'm letting him chose for now, as she will be going to university soon - so he will have to make the most of having his big sister around for now.

I know where you've been!!! Was just talking to Cleaning Lady about it the other day. :>) She still talks about the climb to the top of the tower.
Tell LMS that Computer Geek left today to sign up for his new college.
