Fun Day

Today was the annual Fun Day run by our Local Authority. We feel its important for Little Prince to go to these events, as it shows him that social workers aren't scary and can even be fun!! At the start of our last homestudy he went into complete chaotic meltdown every time the social worker visited. At a very deep level he was totally terrified - poor little mite. However with Theraplay and lots and lots of therapeutic parenting he is now a lot better. At last year's Fun Day he enjoyed himself but was a bit manic and panicked about the whole thing. However, today he was very energetic, but very well behaved and not manic/panicked at all. He has come such a long way and I'm so very very proud of him :-)

The Fun Day was in the grounds of the social workers central offices, and there were five bouncy castles, kids magician, face painting, playstation, balloon modelling, arts and crafts area and even mini manicures!! Almost forgot - the only reason Mr Messy goes at all (joking lol) the BBQ, with very nice burgers and sausages. All the children seemed to have a fabulous time :-) We met with a foster couple that we know and I got to mind one of the babies they are currently fostering - he was only very young and it was lovely to cuddle him :-) Little Prince didn't even seem jealous, he came over for a look, and I made sure I cuddled him too - which is another huge step forward for him :-) We also met two couples we had been on our Prep Course with, one had just recently been placed with their new little one, and the other had already formally adopted theirs - it was lovely to see them as families and to watch them show off their new additions :-) Everyone (including the social workers) asked us how our application is getting on, and were amazed that it will be three years from now - I don't think they really believe us!!! Then again I'd love to be proved wrong lol.

We stayed till mid afternoon, when it became obvious that Little Prince was getting over tired, he fell fast asleep in the car on the way home and was pretty lethargic for most of the afternoon. So that's another way to tire him out - don't think we can fit five bouncy castles in the garden though!! (He spent most of the time running up and down a castle like the one in the picture)

Little Miss Sensible has gone out clubbing this evening as another of her and her group of friend's 'farewell' do's!! They are a lovely bunch of young women and I think they will miss each other quite a lot when they all go their seperate ways, hopefully they will manage to keep in touch somehow.

Mr Messy, Drama Teen and Fraulein have spent the evening laughing out loud at the X Factor auditions programmes!! I find it cringeworthy and can't watch lol
