More Tears

Little Prince was thrilled that we had sorted out a couple of photos of him and mummy that he could take to school with him. Although he did warn us he would still be sad - and he was right! He scootered off happily as usual, but when he got close to the school gate he turned back and started saying he didn't want to go and he wanted to come home. I had to push his scooter as he wanted Little Miss Sensible to carry him, although once we'd parked his scooter he wanted mummy. He clung onto me until the bell rang for lining up and then he started to cry. I had to carry him to the door where one of his teachers took him and she cuddled him, I went inside with him and sat with him (on teacher's knee) while she chatted about what they would be doing today. Another of the teachers came over and they both talked brightly and happily to him, and eventually he calmed down and started chatting back. He showed them his pictures and they decided on a safe place to keep them, so that he could go and find them when he needed them. Then the teacher sat with him on the mat for registration, reassuring him all the time. If he doesn't start to settle by next week, I think I'll suggest bringing him home for lunch, and see how that goes.
