- New Homestudy Report!!!
- New Application Letter (which describes in detail why we wish to change to SNs and how prepared we are to meet SN child's needs)
- All the above need to be legalised and notarised
- They suggest that the wait will only be 3-6 mths shorter than NSNs wait
The DCSF are trying to get clarification on what 'New Homestudy Report' means, does it mean an addendum to the original report? Or does it mean a whole new report? The answer to this question will be crucial in our decision as to whether or not we can move forward with our change over. If we need a WHOLE NEW homestudy report, our LA has already said we will be charged (again!!) exactly what the sw charges them. As our sw likes to go into a LOT of detail, it will likely make the new report extremely expensive and could even be out of our reach :-( Please keep everything crossed that only an addendum is required...

I think the the US applicants only need a minor change to the original report and not a new home study. Could you not post under SN on RQ and then clarify with the DFEs and your LA that this is all that is required for the US applicants who change to SN and the CCAA accept this?
Or even contact a US agency for clarification? Just an idea to save time and monies!
As regards to the time frame, yes it is only a few months quicker but the last expedited heritage referrals it was 14 months as opposed to 24 months! So thats only 10 months quicker! And worth pushing for. I think they are saying there is no time differnce as a deterent to stop everyone from changing.

Hi,
I found you on another international adoption blogroll and stopped by your site for a visit. I'm also adopting, but from Uzbekistan. Good luck on your journey and I look forward to following your progress.

Hi S,
I've put a message on RQ and I'll wait and see what they say. Hopefully (fingers tightly crossed) it will only be an update/addendum needed. I did mention to the DFES Team Leader that US families only need an update/addendum, but she still wanted clarification from the CCAA, Frustrating!!!!
The time frame bit, I'm not that worried about as I wondered too if its a deterrent to stop everyone wanting to change over!! Its not what the contacts in China said, or what is said on the direct match group.
Thanks again
Will email properly soon - promise :-) But not tomorrow as me and my friend are off for a pampering spa day :-)
Take care

Hi Tasha,
Thanks for your comment :-)
Good luck with your adoption journey too :-)
Best wishes

Hi Janet
I would also think about using Yao to contact the CCAA for you to clarify. Yes you would have to pay him but it also may be quicker and a lot cheaper in the long run.
Just a thought!

Nothing is ever simple..is it!
You know it doesn't surprise me that the British system asks for the whole lot again!
Hopefully you can sort it out.
I'm sure it will all work out soon. The DFES just want everything to be more than perfect which is a pain, but everything happens for a reason, even them taking forever!!
