Thoughts
I've just gone back and rechecked what the China Adoption Forecast website has had to say about when we can expect to receive our referral. In Sept 2007 their best guess was 14th August 2012. I've just run the numbers again today January 2008 and our referral estimate has pushed out to 3rd October 2013. So in FOUR months our referral estimate has gone almost FOURTEEN months longer!!! OMG!!!! That is unreal and very very scary. I feel a total sense of peace about our wish to change to an expedited SN request, but if any of the pieces don't fall into place (SW, LA, DFES, CCAA) then I don't know what we will do. As a family we can't wait that long. I think we will have to reassess where we are in the process in another 12 months and see what we can do. Hopefully, fingers, toes and everything crossed we will have or be very close to receiving our SN expedited referral by then, but if not - who knows?!?!?!

Janrt..you're back!! Sorry to hear about the rotten bug! Know all about them!! There were so many in Autumn 07 and I believe that sickness bug is getting everyone.I had a sore throat and got realy peeved after every virus had attacked me in 07.I got drugs down me and it went.Then C had a high temp but was ok but we were lucky for Disney and Christmas as no big viruses..hurrah!
I hope you don't have to get references again? That seems a bit weird..maybe to check you are still ok ,who knows? Anything in this horrible process.I had a feeling it wouldn't be straightforward..nothing is!
I think you'll be waiting six years if you didn't change to SN ..as I reckon we'll never get our referral.I just can't go through all that paperwork,coming to visit us and asking all the questions again and paying an extra fee..have they told you the amount yet?
So we've decided to wait it out..whatever happens and just live in the meantime.I'm not going to worry anymore as I did in 07..whats the point..what will be will be.HUGS!

So glad you were bug free for Disney and Christmas - you'll have to email me and let me know how Disney went if you get chance :-) I've had another email from our sw and she is going to check with the DFES exactly what they want her to do, which is a LOT simpler than what she and our LA were proposing to do!! Hopefully they will convince her (and she convince our LA!) that she doesn't have to redo the whole thing again!! No idea of how much it will be yet, as we are going to be charged exactly what our sw charges our LA, so it will have to wait and see how much she charges them! I hope your new 'no worries' attitude helps you with the wait and I'm sending great big hugs back to you too (((((((((((()))))))))

Yes I'm going to "be happy,don't worry" in 08 as whats the point as its going to be a very long wait and journey and life has to mobve on.We have the boys and so are fortunate as it must be awful for childless families.Firecrackers keeps us going as we have a good group and I'm going to have a busy year to keep us occupied.I'm already doing alot of sorting and clearing and soon to be fixing.Boys back tomorrow and then have lots to do this month!

I wish I could have your "be happy, don't worry" attitude myself - but I can't! I've tried all year now and I have to try to do something. There are various places that say you can't change to SN once you are logged in for NSNs and that is very worrying, but in the light of the extending wait times - we really feel (for our family) we have to try to do this. We will re-evaluate over Christmas/New Year next year and decide what (if anything - as fingers crossed we may even have our referral by then) to do next.
I'm also going to try and concentrate on the lovely children I already have, and try not to dream too much of the daughter I may have one day...
