Dossier (lack of!!!) Progress

As reported in the previous post, our dossier is safely back in the hands of the DCSF (UK govt Dept that processes all intercountry adoption applications). I managed to get through on their helpline, after only half an hour of frantic redailling, this afternoon. Apparently our dossier is now logged back into their system and will take about 4-6 weeks to be sent out to Ethiopia :-( I was shocked and totally disappointed to hear this, as when our papers were first sent to the DCSF they were sending papers to country in ONE week!! Just our luck I suppose, which doesn't make it any easier to bear :-( I have no idea how I'll keep myself sane for the next 4-6 weeks, and if its even longer I'll be a complete basket case!!! My poor family :-(

Hi S,
Thank you :-) I know in the grand scheme of things it isn't so bad, but I was all psyched up for a one week turnaround and this new timescale will take a bit of adjusting to! I'll be feeling fine again by the end of the week (fingers crossed lol).
Lots of love

That's hard. I hope that you didn't let the worry spoil Christmas. Lovely to know all's well at MH.

Hi Kate and Alice,
Thank you :-)
Worrying did take over a little sometimes, but most of the time I was fine :-) It must be nearly Panel time for you now - I've got everything crossed for you (not that you need it!).
Happy New Year to both of you too :-)

Hi Rosie,
I should have expected it from the DCSF really, but I let my heart get carried away with the thought of speedy work!! I've certainly come back down to earth with a bump today!!
Our decorations have been down for ages, they were driving me nutty lol!!
Hope this New Year brings good things to you and your family too.
Lots of love

Sounds like more "fobbing off" on the part of the DCSF ie just don't ring us back in the next 4-6 weeks! I hope (and think) it will happen sooner than they've said.

Good Day My Friend! First Tanks for your kind words on my blog...you're so dear.

Second and more importantly....call me an optimist...call it faith...call it just plain...gut instinct...but I feel like this will happen faster than 4-6 weeks. Those children need homes so badly. Surely God knows this, and he will provide...truly. So, don't stress my friend, just keep on, keeping on with the faith...it will happen...I know it will. And when it does, all this will seem so worth it...:) You little one is there, he's waiting, and God has him in the palm of his hand. This I am sure...:) Hang tight. You're in my prayers.

Hi Janet

Never trust anything the DCSF tell you!

I'd give it 2 more weeks than start calling each week to see where they are.

A little pressure goes a LONG way with them.

(course it didn't work when I wanted them to get me my referral - those 17 days of them sitting on it will be seared in my memory forever).

Fingers crossed!

Oh, Janet! I'm so sorry to hear about the DCSF situation, but try to think of it this way..YOUR child will be perfectly matched with you when it is the perfect time. Maybe there just needed to be this little "adjustment" to make sure the right referral is made. OK, I know that doesn't help much, but try to hang in there..it could be worse, you could still be in the China queue :)

Hi 3CMum,
I don't think I'll last waiting TWO weeks lol. I'll be on the phone next week, gently prodding and seeing if I can get them to shift!!
I remember you having to wait all that time for your referral, it must have been hell for you! You'd think the DCSF would have learnt by now!!!

Hi Mac,
I'm feeling a lot better about it all now, but I will be doing as much pushing as I think I can get away with to try and get the DCSF to move!!

Hi Shawnstribe,
This last year going through the homestudy again, and fighting our LA every step of the way, has been so stressful, but it will be so worth it once we finally complete our family :-)
