GP reviewed Medical

I've just walked in the door after seeing our GP. He read through the medical, noted that it was written by a University trained Paediatrician, which he said was excellent and made the medical much more likely to be accurate. He said he had no concerns about anything written in the report :-) He did comment on the child's weight, but said that is probably down to where child is living and with good nutrition child is likely to be fine. I asked about the HIV test and he said that as the child tested negative that it is an accurate test, apparently a positive can be false as it can show maternal antibodies. He congratulated us and said the picture was lovely :-)

The only thing we have to do now is meet with the LA Team Leader and our Social Worker next week and get that precious letter from the DCSF and we are on the NEXT PLANE TO ADDIS ABABA :-)

Hi Kristine,
Thank you :-) I feel like I'm walking on air at the moment, everything is just slotting into place :-)
If our SWs and UK govt dept get their acts together and issue the Permission to Travel letter quickly following our meeting with the SWs next week, I could travel for the first trip in about two weeks time!!! I could hold our new little one that soon :-) That thought brings tears to my eyes :-) Then is the horrible bit of coming home without our child to wait for our Court Date, and that brings a different sort of tears to my eyes! Hopefully the wait won't be too long and I have so much to get ready I will be able to stay VERY busy!!
How is your application going?

Glad it went well:) Lets hope the DCSF are quicker at writing letters! Hopefully it wont be too long now.
She will be home soon, so just concentrate on that fact:)

Hi S,
According to others that have recently gone through this part of the process the DCSF are completely different and actually manage to be efficient!!!
Wow our new one WILL be home soon :-) After all this time I still have to keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming!!

That's why I'm going with you the first time - I know how hard it will be for you to come home without her!!!! But it won't be too much longer and she'll be home with you forever :)

Oh Janet, we're just over the moon happy for you! I don't always get to post, but I am reading and keeping up with you.
It is so thrilling for me to watch you receive your referral, and I can't wait to see you bring her home! I live for moments like yours, it makes the whole wait soooo much easier when friends bring their babies home. Doodle, DH and I will be watching (reading).

I agree with Mac - it makes it so much easier when I watch someone I like get closer to having their baby home! And the posts back and forth between you and sis brought tears to my eyes. what wonderful stories you will have years from now.

thanks for asking about our process. today I paid off the last fee for our home study! so now we slog through the paperwork gathering - i'm hoping 6 weeks everything will be in ET. We'll see. But still it feels better.

I can't imagine seeing her and then leaving her. You'll need tissues and some kind of inner strength that I know we all have when called upon but it seems unimaginable in the abstract.

I'm glad you blog - you'll have a lot of support when you get back.

Hi Mac,
Thank you for being so happy for us :-) I'll hopefully be able to blog from Addis, but the internet connection is slow and intermittant at times, but I'll do my best. I don't post pictures of my family on the blog, but I'll try to post pictures of the sights and scenes of Addis :-) Have a great weekend, especially now that Doodle is so much better :-)
Lots of love

Hi Kristine,
Glad its helping you and Mac to read about our process :-) And Baby Sis is a very special young lady, I've watched her grow (she was born when I was almost 15) into a beautiful, intelligent, kind, funny and lovely young woman and I'm very proud to be her Big Sis :-) And I don't know if I would be able to cope emotionally, going on my own so I'm hugely grateful that she is giving up some of her holiday/vacation time and time away from her fiance to accompany me :-)
Its great to hear that you are back on track with your own application :-) And fantastic that you could have your papers over there so soon :-) How long do you expect to wait for a referral? What age/gender are you requesting? How does Q feel? Little Prince is still quite unsure about the whole thing!!
When we first changed to Ethiopia, one of the reasons we chose it was because we wouldn't have to make two trips! I didn't think I would have the strength to do that!! Now I'm going to have to find that strength from somewhere, but with the support of my sister and my family once I'm home, I'm going to try.
